Agrology Success Stories – Increase in Total Yield in Alfalfa Cultivation
Through Agrology Success Stories in Greece and Abroad, it is proven that the superior quality and integrated innovative technologies of Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® products, make a difference in crops from the very first applications!
Our goal is to demonstrate that Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® Programs are a profitable investment for farmers, as the financial benefits exceed the extra cost of supplemental applications!
One such Success Story was carried out in Alfalfa (SS_2025_303_GR) in 2025, in collaboration with the Commercial Store of Agricultural Supplies and Nutrimaster® “Tsoutis Vasileios”, in the region of Thesprotia. Throughout the process, the farmer benefited from the continuous guidance and support offered by Agrology’s Technical Department and the collaborating agricultural store.
The crop area was divided into two equal plots, one was used as Control, while Agrology’s Program was applied to the other plot. In both plots, the farmer used the same plant protection and plant nutrition-fertilization program, apart from additional applications with Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® products.

Success Story Results
Measurements on both plots revealed impressive results in the Agrology treatment. Specifically, the results were as follows:
- Increase in Total Yield (3rd cut) by 21.9% (+230 Kg/ha)
- Agrology: 1.28 t/ha
- Control: 1.05 t/ha

The increase in total yield of 230 kg/ha contributed to the increase of the farmer’s income.
Conclusions
- Potassium promotes the accumulation of carbohydrates in the root hairs of plants, creating carbon reserves that can subsequently be utilized by plant metabolism during later stages of growth.
- Based on both the scientific literature and the results obtained in the present study, the application of high-potassium formulations is recommended during the early stages of crop development (e.g., the 1st and 2nd cuttings). This practice enables the plant to build a nutrient reserve that enhances metabolic activity during the subsequent growth stages (3rd, 4th, 5th cuttings, etc.), promotes faster regrowth, and ultimately increases its productive potential.
- During the later stages of crop development (e.g., after the 2nd and 3rd cuttings), plants have an increased demand for rapid vegetative growth and enhanced metabolic activity. Therefore, the application of high-nitrogen formulations is recommended.
- Nitrogen stimulates vegetative growth and, in combination with the carbohydrate reserves previously established through potassium applications, directly enhances plant metabolism, accelerates regrowth, and increases overall yield potential.
