Quality Improvement in Kiwifruits- Consolidated Results

Through Agrology Success Stories in Greece and Abroad, it is proven that the superior quality and integrated innovative technologies of Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® products, make a difference in crops from the very first applications!

Our goal is to demonstrate that application programs with Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® products are an obvious investment for producers, as the financial benefits exceed the cost of supplemental applications! More specifically, Agrology, in collaboration with Commercial Stores of Agricultural Supplies or Agricultural cooperatives, carried out a series of demonstrative applications in kiwi. Throughout the process, the farmer benefited from the continuous guidance and support offered by Agrology’s Technical Department and the collaborating agricultural stores or cooperatives.

The crop area of each trial was divided into two equal plots, one was used as the Control, while Agrology’s Program was applied to the other plot. The field trials intended to increase total yield and shelf-life in kiwi and were conducted in different regions of Greece during the years 2020, 2021,2022 and 2023.

Identity of the Success Stories

From 2020 to 2023, 15 Trials in Kiwi were conducted in different Regions of Greece, covering an area of 35 hectares.

Success Stories Objectives:

By applying Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® products during specific growth stages in the kiwi crop, farmers can achieve significant agronomic benefits for their crops.

The objectives of the Success Stories included:

Products:

Highly concentrated liquid Boron and Zinc in suspension concentrate form and reinforced with Molybdenum (Mo: 1% w/v, B: 15% w/v, Zn: 30% w/v):

  • Flowering and fruit-setting Enhancement (Zn, B)
  • Promotion of plant Vegetative Growth (Zn, Mo)
  • Improved Fruit Development (B)

Application Timing:

  • 1st application Pre-Flowering
  • 2nd application, Post-harvest – Immediately after harvest

Recommended Dosage:

Foliar application – 100 cc/100lt

Biostimulant of 20 – free L-amino acids of plant origin that achieves:

  • Enhancement of plant metabolism
  • Promotion of Vegetative Growth
  • Enhancement of cell divisions
  • Improvement of the Plant’s Resistance to Abiotic Stress

Application Timing:

  • 1st application at the beginning of vegetative development
  • 2nd application, 10-15 days after petal fall (tank mix with Nodius F-KIN®)

Recommended Dosage

Foliar application – 300 cc/100lt

Super-stimulator based on mixtures of Organic Metabolic Catalysts, Carboxylic Acids, Amino Acids and Trace Elements, organically activated with the E2DA® factor:

  • Cell Divisions Increase
  • Fruit Size & Weight Increase
  • Fruit Size & Weight Uniformity Increase
  • improvement in the texture of the white core (columella)
  • Dry Matter Increase and Postharvest Life Improvement

Application Timing:

  • 1st application at Petals fall
  • 2nd application 10-15 days later

Recommended Dosage:

Foliar application – 200 cc/100 lt

Gravital® Force SC is a Bioavailable elemental Silicon and Calcium Biostimulant in liquid form, with a high percentage of available orthosilicic acid [35% Calcium (CaO) & 35% Silicon (SiO2)].

  • Improved N, P, K uptake (SiO2)
  • Vital for cell wall strength (CaO)
  • Increase resistance to stress (SiO2)
  • Increased fruit firmness and Postharvest Life (CaO)

Application Timing:

  • 1st application at Petals fall (Foliar – tank mix with Nodius F-KIN®)
  • 2nd application, 10-15 days after Petals Fall (Foliar – tank mix with Fruitonic® Vega and Nodius F-KIN®)
  • 3rd application, 15 days later (Foliar)
  • 3-5 applications from mid-July to mid-September – (Soil/Drip application)

Recommended Dosage:

  • Foliar application – 170-250 cc/100lt
  • Soil/Drip application – 2,5-5 L/ha

Consolidated Results

During the field trials, samples were collected from the two treatments, the Untreated Control, and Agrology’s Functional Crop Nutrition® programs, to record fruit size, fruit weight and fruit firmness.

More specifically, the following were achieved:

1. Average Fruit Weight Increase: +12.2% ​​or 13.84 g per fruit

  • Agrology: 127 g
  • Control: 113.2 g

2. Fruit Size Increase: Horizontal Diameter: + 6.8% and Vertical Diameter: + 7.2%

3. Increase of Fruit Firmness

  • Fruit Flesh Firmness Increase – Harvest Day: +2.2%
  • Increase of Fruit Flesh Firmness – 15 days after Harvest at room temperature (25oC): +16.8%
  • Increase of Fruit Flesh Firmness – 30 days after Harvest at room temperature (25oC): +20.6%
