Increase of Stone Fruit Quality and Yield

Through the Agrology Success Stories in Greece and abroad, it is proven that the superior quality and integrated innovative technologies in Agrology Specialty Nutrition products make the difference in crops from the very first applications!

Our ultimate goal is to demonstrate that the Agrology Specialty Nutrition Programs constitute a profitable investment for producers, as the financial benefits more than cover the cost of the additional applications!

One such Success Story in the cultivation of Peach (SS 2019_30_GR) was carried out in collaboration with the agricultural supplies store and Nutrimaster® “AGROKOSMOS” during the 2019 Agricultural Season. Throughout the applications, there was continuous guidance and technical support to the producer, both from the specialized staff of the technical department of Agrology, and the collaborating agricultural store of Mr. Chatzopoulos.

Initially, the area was divided into two equal sections. One section was named Control and the second was named Agrology Program.  In both, the producer proceeded with the same cultivation care and implemented the exact same scheme of plant protection and nutrition – fertilization. However, in the Agrology Section, the producer implemented additional interventions using the Specialized and Innovative Products of Agrology.

The goal of the Success Story was to Improve the stone fruit Quality and Increase the Total Production.

Specialized Nutrition – Fertilizing Program

The applications were foliar, at the appropriate stages, which the selection was based on the requirements of each germination stage of the crop.

Treatment

  • MagPhos® K (300 cc/100 lt) Phosphorus, Potassium and Magnesium Formulation to Increase the Size and Number of Fruits.

The application was foliar at the stage of Fruit Setting.

  • Nodius F-Kin® (100 cc/100lt) Mixture of natural plant metabolic catalysts to Increase Fruit Size.

Foliar application in the stages: a) of Fruit Setting and b) of the Fruit after Tree Thinning.

  • Gravital® Force (2 kg/100 lt) To Increase Fruit Production, Size and Consistency

The application was foliar in the stages: a) of Fruit Development and b) of the Fruit after Tree Thinning.

  • Inca Ultra (150 cc/100lt) Liquid nutritional supplement enhanced with zinc and nitrogen to Strengthen cell walls and Promote cell wall elongation

Foliar application in the stages: a) of Fruit Color Change and b) of Ripening.

So, the rest of the Nutrition – Fertilizing program was the one usually applied by this specific producer and was the same for both sections (Control + Agrology Program), throughout the cultivation season.

Results

After taking samples from both sections, we observed that the treatment of the Agrology program generated impressive results for the benefit of the producer, achieving the increase of production and the improvement of the stone fruit quality. More specifically, with this Scheme we achieved:

27% Increase in Total Fruit Production with the Agrology Program:

  • Agrology: 2622 kg/1000 sq. m.
  • Control: 2070 kg/1000 sq. m.

7% Increase in Fruit Size with the Agrology program:

Fruit Size Increase: 7%

  • Agrology: 75,4 mm

Increase of Fruit Consistency by 50% two days after harvest at room temperature

On the day of harvest:

Increased flesh consistency: 5,1%

  • Agrology: 4,10 kg
  • Control: 3,90 kg

Investment – Producer benefit

Both the increase of Production and the Size of the fruits, as well as the improvement of the stone fruit quality contributed to the increase of the producer’s revenue by €276/1,000 sq. m., while the cost of the additional applications amounted merely to €58.07.

The producer had an extra financial benefit due to:

  • Increase of Fruit Production by 552 kg/1,000 sq. m.
  • Fruit Size Increase
  • Boost of Fruit Flesh Consistency

The Cost-Benefit Ratio Ratio was 1:4,7. That is, for every €1 the producer invested in the nutritional preparations of the Agrology program, he received an additional income of €4,7.
